Michigan Wolverines junior forward Will Tschetter announced Thursday his planned return to Ann Arbor for the 2024-25 season, per his Instagram story. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining and will be part of the rebuild under new head coach Dusty May.

Tschetter played in 31 games with six starts this past season, averaging a career-high 6.8 points per contest in 17.9 minutes on average each night. One of the biggest developments in his game came at the three-point line where he was 28-for-54 on the season (51.9%). He scored a career-high 20 points in a win against Youngstown State on Nov. 10.

Tschetter appeared in 27 contests in 2022-23 with eight starts and averaged 2.3 points in 10.7 minutes per game. He redshirted during his freshman season in 2021-22 while operating on the scout team. Tschetter was a four-star prospect and the No. 112 player in the country, per the On3 Industry Ranking in the 2021 class that also featured Caleb Houstan, Moussa Diabate, Kobe Bufkin and Frankie Collins. Houstan and Diabate went to the NBA after their freshman seasons, while Bufkin spent two years in Ann Arbor before becoming a first-round pick as a sophomore. Collins transferred to Arizona State for his sophomore year and played two seasons there before entering the transfer portal this offseason.

He is one of four scholarship players on the roster with eligibility remaining along with guard Nimari Burnett, forward Terrance Williams II and wing Jace Howard. Each have one additional season remaining should they choose to pursue it. Michigan also has one signee locked in for next year in three-star combo guard Durral Brooks, who re-affirmed his commitment to May shortly after his hiring.

A thorough evaluation of all things Michigan basketball is currently underway with May as he builds out the program. He has added a pair of assistants in former Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton and Georgia assistant Akeem Miskdeen. The attention turns to filling out the staff and hitting the transfer portal to augment the roster in 2024-25.

“We’re going to cast a big net. We’ll narrow it down, we’ll be very patient because we’re not going to take the wrong guys because we have several spots. We’re going to be very thorough but we need to understand that we need to be right, we need to do our research in advance and make sure we make very calculated decisions because there’s a lot of options, and they’re not all great options.”
