The Michigan “one more year” campaign landed another huge piece Thursday. As hoped, senior left guard Trevor Keegan announced he’d be back for a fifth season, joining senior Blake Corum and others to make one more run at a title.

“For the past 4 years I’ve been surrounded with incredible individuals who have made a huge impact in my life,” he wrote on social media. “My time here at Michigan has allowed me to grow in so many aspects in life, on and off the field. My teammates and coaches have built a culture that is unbreakable and it’s been special to be a part of. I wouldn’t want these last 4 years to have gone any differently.

“Making it to the NFL has been a dream ever since I picked up a football. With a lot of thought and tasing with those closest to me, there is more that I want to achieve personally and collectively as a team. Thrilled to get back to work with my teammates and get rolling.”

Keegan was part of the Joe Moore Award winning line as best in the country for the last 2 years. He’ll now have a chance to make it 3.

The Wolverines still have others they’re working on to return, as well. Right guard Zak Zinter is a big one. Keegan said in Arizona for the Fiesta Bowl the two of them talked often, but both agreed they’d do what was best for them.

Senior receiver Cornelius Johnson is another still contemplating a return, while linebacker Michael Barrett could come back for a sixth year. The Valiant Management Group is doing their part to get them and others to stay by launching the “one more year” collective.

“Introducing the One More Year Fund — the crowdfunding campaign designed to retain key Michigan football players, starting with Blake Corum, Cornelius Johnson, Trevor Keegan, and Zak Zinter,” they wrote. “‘By donating, fans have the chance to make a meaningful contribution to the Michigan football team in pursuit of the 2023 National Championship by supporting NIL opportunities.

“Help us show the players how much we appreciate them and want them back in the Maize and Blue!”
