Tweets Of The Day
Michigan hockey fell to Michigan State, 5-1, Friday night at Yost Ice Arena. The Wolverines and Spartans will face off Saturday night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit for the ‘Dual in the D.’
A pair of late empty-net goals sealed the fate of the 11th-ranked University of Michigan ice hockey team on Friday night (Feb. 9 ) as it fell to the ninth-ranked Michigan State Spartans by a 5-1 score inside Yost Ice Arena. The game was tied at one goal apiece after two periods, but MSU tagged on a pair of goals in the third period to surge ahead before padding its lead with two empty-net goals en route to the win.
Michigan goaltender Jake Barczewski started between the pipes for the seventh game in a row, and the netminder made 25 saves on 28 shots that he faced while shouldering the loss.
Michigan 27, Alabama 24: That score will forever be etched in stone on the wall in the Rose Bowl concourse. The Wolverines defeated the Crimson Tide Jan. 1, winning in overtime to advance to the national championship game against Washington. The Wolverines disposed of the Huskies in Houston, 34-13.
Quinten Johnson’s forced fumble and Josh Wallace’s recovery were underrated aspects of the Michigan win over Alabama and season in general.

ND coach addresses NFL rumors
Michigan’s projected win total for the 2024 season is 9.5 wins. The Wolverines have won 12 or more games each of the last three seasons but saw head coach Jim Harbaugh depart for the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers, with Sherrone Moore taking over the program. Harbaugh was successful with the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-14. U-M won 10 games in Harbaugh’s first season and 11 in previous head man Brady Hoke’s first campaign in Ann Arbor (2011). Michigan won three under Rich Rodriguez, however (2008).
Quote Of The Day
“He’s going to kill it on the recruiting trail. I love his passion for the boys. He’s an intense dude. I think Carter is going to thrive off of that. The guy was thrown into the absolute fire against Penn State. That was my absolute favorite game of the year. That showed he’s going to get those boys to buy in and play for each other — a lot like Coach (Jim) Harbaugh — and not worry about Louis Vuitton cleats (laughs). He obviously can do that. He hired Coach Wink (Martindale) today. He’s going to build the highest level staff he can get. I think the sky is the limit up there. We’re excited about it.”
