Michigan’s 2026 class sat in the 30s nationally going into a Victors Weekend that might be one of the most impressive recruiting events in recent program history. Following Carter Meadows’ recruitment, the Wolverines hold a Top 10 recruiting class.

The five-star edge rusher from Washington, D.C., propelled U-M from No. 11 to No. 10 in On3’s Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Michigan leapt over Oregon to enter the Top 10, slotting the current group of 18 commits as the third-best class in the Big Ten.

USC (No. 1 class nationally) and Ohio State (No. 5) are the only conference foes ahead of the Wolverines, and the surging school is far from done. Five-star running back Savion Hiter and five-star wide receiver Calvin Russell are a couple of headlining prospects who are still very interested in Michigan.

Meadows is the sixth-ranked recruit in the On300, the No. 2 edge rusher nationally and the top prospect in the Wolverines’ class. He pledged to U-M Sunday over Ohio State, Penn State and others.

Just a couple of days before his announcement, Top 100 offensive tackle Malakai Lee and three-star linebacker Markel Dabney committed to Michigan within 15 minutes of each other. Top 100 defensive lineman Titan Davis, On300 offensive lineman Marky Walbridge and four-star wide receiver Zion Robinson have all committed to the program in the days following Victors Weekend, leading to this recruiting surge for the Wolverines.

The next announcement to watch: Four-star safety Andre Clarke will make his decision June 30.

Michigan now has 18 commits in its 2026 recruiting class — Meadows, Top 100 Honolulu (Hawaii) Kamehameha Secondary offensive tackle Malakai Lee, three-star Chester (Va.) Huguenot linebacker Markel Dabney, Top 100 St. Louis (Mo.) DeSmet defensive lineman Titan Davis, Top 100 Billings (Mont.) West tight end Matt Ludwig, Top 100 Newbury Park (Calif.) St. Sebastian’s offensive lineman Marky Walbridge, four-star Mansfield (Texas) High wide receiver Zion Robinson, three-star Cartersville (Ga.) Cass offensive lineman Bear McWhorter, three-star Washington (D.C.) St. John’s EDGE Tariq Boney, three-star Denver (Colo.)
