Michigan Lands Commitment From 2023 DL Brooks Bahr
Michigan has scored a key commitment on the recruiting trail.
Rising 2023 Wilmette (Ill.) Loyola Academy defensive lineman Brooks Bahr announced his verbal pledge to the Wolverines on Tuesday afternoon.
“Playing in The Big House has always been a dream of mine,” Bahr said. “That would be crazy. I made a visit there and loved the whole atmosphere. The facilities are really nice. The rich tradition stands out as well as having the opportunity to play for a national championship. The fanbase is awesome, too.”
Bahr picked Michigan over offers from Cincinnati, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Nebraska, Vanderbilt and others.
New Michigan defensive line coach Mike Elston made Bahr feel like a top priority and was instrumental in earning his commitment.
“I met Coach Elston at a camp at Notre Dame, and I really like the way he coaches,” Bahr said. “We have a great bond. We talk every week. He’s a really cool guy.”

At 6-foot-6, 265 pounds, Bahr is ranked as the No. 58 defensive lineman and No. 476 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Consensus.
While he was initially ranked as an EDGE, Bahr is now listed as a defensive lineman, and Elston views him as more of three-technique in U-M’s scheme.
“(Elston) has been telling me that he sees me as a three-tech in their defensive scheme,” Bahr said. “It’s more of defensive tackle role. He wants me to be a hand on the ground type of guy that plays well against the run. We’ve been talking a lot about fit.”
Michigan now has six commitments in its 2023 recruiting class.
