Michigan has scored another big win on the recruiting trail.

Four-star Brandywine (Md.) Gwynn Park EDGE Devon Baxter gave the Wolverines a verbal pledge shortly following his official visit over the weekend.

“I love the scheme,” Baxter said. “They have a down end and one that stands up. I watched the spring game, and I paid attention to both. I liked what I saw from two of their EDGE guys. If they use me how they say they’re going to use me, I definitely feel like I’ll some noise at Michigan.”

Baxter committed to Michigan over fellow finalists Maryland and Virginia Tech. He also held offers from Boston College, Duke, Penn State, Rutgers, Tennessee and others.

Michigan staffer Dylan Roney, who works closely with U-M’s pass rushers, led the way in Baxter’s recruitment and helped seal the deal on his official visit.

“Coach Roney is a really chill dude,” Baxter said. “He’s honest. He’s never going to tell you a lie. If he watches your film, he’s going to tell you like it is and what you need to work on. When you came out to watch me work out, he said he watched the clips and told me what I needed to work on. I really appreciate how he keeps it real.”
