Michigan lands commitment from key WR target Phillip Wright
Michigan has landed a key commitment on the recruiting trail.
Three-star Destrehan (La.) High wide receiver Phillip Wright gave the Wolverines a verbal pledge after making his official visit last month.
Wright picked Michigan over fellow finalists Georgia and LSU.
Michigan wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy, a Louisiana native, led the way in this recruitment and was able to seal the deal.
“My relationship with Coach Bell is good,” Wright said. “We talk almost every day. What makes it easy is that he is from the same area I’m from, so we connect easily.”
Michigan impressed Wright during his time on campus and became the favorite soon after.
“This visit was one of the best I’ve been on,” Wright said. “I loved the atmosphere, and I loved how family oriented it was. All of the coaches want you to be successful at the end of the day in all aspects of life.”
Michigan also impressed Wright’s father, Phillip II.
“Everything was great,” Phillip II said. “The staff was really friendly. They were knowledgeable about football. They were knowledgeable about Phillip and his accolades. The staff communicated as family. I had a good experience talking to them about the way they could use Phillip and the way he could produce for their team.
