Michigan lands cornerback Aamir Hall out of transfer portal
The Michigan Wolverines have landed another piece out of the transfer portal with a commitment from Albany cornerback Aamir Hall. He has one season of eligibility remaining and could factor into the two-deep this season in Ann Arbor.
Hall (6-1, 201) – who visited Ann Arbor this week – was an FCS All-American last season at Albany with 57 total tackles, five interceptions and 13 passes defended along with a forced fumble. His play was elite, grading out as an 85.7 overall on Pro Football Focus with an 88.3 coverage grade.
Prior to his time at Albany, he spent the first three years of his career at Richmond. He played in nine games in 2022, recording 28 total tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss with an interception and three passes defended. During the 2021 spring season, which was delayed from the fall due to COVID-19, he played in all four games with three starts and had a pair of pass breakups and 18 total tackles.
The 2021 fall season saw him start all 11 games with 13 passes defended and an interception, along with 60 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and a sack.
Michigan has a need at No. 2 cornerback on the other side of Will Johnson, who could be a top-five talent in next year’s 2025 NFL Draft class. Pro Football Focus has him as the No. 4 player on the board. Should he match or surpass that billing, he would be the team’s highest-drafted defensive back since Charles Woodson went to the Oakland Raiders in 1998.

The staff knows how important it could be to pair him with good talent as it looks to maintain the standard set by last season’s defense.
“That’s what I think people don’t realize, the dude truly, truly cares about his teammates and he works like he’s just trying to earn a spot on the bus every single day,” defensive backs coach Lamar Morgan said this spring. I think all the corners are doing a good job now.
“We’ve just been trying to throw a lot of guys with the ones and twos and rolling reps. That’s what I believe in. You can’t tell guys you will give them an opportunity and then never get reps at it. Just trying to get the guys as much reps as they can, being able to have a big sample of what these guys have done all spring and once it gets down to fall camp, summer and all that, we can make an adjustment of who we can put out there on the other side of Will.”
Hall is the sixth transfer Michigan has added this offseason, joining wide receivers C.J. Charleston and Amorion Walker, offensive lineman Josh Priebe, linebacker Jaishawn Barham and kicker Dominic Zvada. All are expected to compete for significant playing time this summer.
