The Michigan Wolverines have added another member to their NCAA transfer portal cycle this winter with Louisiana cornerback Caleb Anderson joining the program, he announced on social media.

He visited this weekend and will have one season of eligibility remaining.

The connection comes via defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan, who coached Anderson at Louisiana. He had 19 tackles this season dealing with an injury but played on a defense coordinated by Morgan during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Last season, he played in 10 games and started in eight of them, recording 23 tackles, a tackle for loss and an interception. During the 2022 campaign, he suited up for all 13 games and made one start with 13 total tackles, half a tackle for loss, two passes defended, and interception and a fumble recovery.

Anderson appeared in four games during his freshman season in 2020 before not making an appearance in 2021 as a COVID-era freshman.

Anderson adds some experience to a Michigan cornerback room that is going to be much younger next season. Junior Will Johnson was a stalwart and is headed to the NFL, leaving the Jyaire Hill behind as the most-experienced starting corner on the roster prior to Anderson’s commitment. Jo’Ziah Edmond could be in for a bigger role during his sophomore season, while incoming freshman Shamari Earls could be a candidate for early playing time.

Michigan has also been linked to transfer portal cornerback Thaddeus Dixon out of Washington, who was scheduled to visit the program this weekend. Ole Miss currently leads on On3’s RPM system.

Michigan’s transfer portal class currently ranks 5th in the country with 12 commitments. Anderson was the second pledge of the day along with wide receiver Anthony Simpson out of UMass. The rest of the class includes UCLA long snapper Trent Middleton, Ferris State IOL Lawrence Hattar, Clemson DT Tre Williams, Alabama RB Justice Haynes, Fresno State QB Mikey Keene, Georgia LB Troy Bowles, Alabama DT Damon Payne, Cal Poly OL Brady Norton, Arkansas DBs T.J. and Tevis Metcalf and Indiana WR Donaven McCulley.
