Michigan lands portal safety Wesley Walker
Michigan football continues to add pieces to bolster its 2024 roster, the latest Wesley Walker. The Wolverines added Albany FCS All-American cornerback Aamir Hall Thurs., May 16 … today they received a pledge from former Tennessee safety Walker, who will play his sixth and final collegiate season in Ann Arbor.
Walker played three seasons at Georgia Tech before transferring to Tennessee, where he spent two years. He’s started 25 of the 46 games in which he’s appeared. He’s notched 184 tackles in his career with 12 break-ups, three forced fumbles, a sack, and an interception. He registered 89 tackles, six break-ups, two sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception with the Volunteers.
Walker then entered the portal and committed to Ole Miss before switching to Louisville. He re-entered the portal after spring and will now vie for time at safety for the Wolverines.
Per Pro Football Focus, Walker was Tennessee’s highest-graded player in 2022 (77.5) with mid-to-upper 70s numbers in run defense, tackling, pass rush and coverage. He’ll battle Makari Paige, Zeke Berry, and Quinten Johnson for playing time in a Michigan secondary that took a hit in early spring when Rod Moore went down with what appears to be a season-ending knee injury.

Hall, meanwhile, has two seasons of eligibility remaining and could factor into the two-deep this season in Ann Arbor. Hall (6-1, 201) – who visited Ann Arbor this week – was an FCS All-American last season at Albany with 57 total tackles, five interceptions and 13 passes defended along with a forced fumble. His play was elite, grading out as an 85.7 overall on Pro Football Focus with an 88.3 coverage grade.
Prior to his time at Albany, he spent the first three years of his career at Richmond. He played in nine games in 2022, recording 28 total tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss with an interception and three passes defended. During the 2021 spring season, which was delayed from the fall due to COVID-19, he played in all four games with three starts and had a pair of pass breakups and 18 total tackles.
The 2021 fall season saw him start all 11 games with 13 passes defended and an interception, along with 60 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and a sack.
