Michigan locks in summer satellite camps in three key recruiting areas

The importance of satellite camps has decreased over the last few years due to several factors and changes in the recruiting calendar. Long gone are the days of Jim Harbaugh’s famous cross-country tours that saw the Michigan staff blitz several recruiting hotbeds.
However, this summer’s satellite camp swing could be key for Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore and his staff.
After all, Michigan missed most of the spring contact period due to self-imposed contact restrictions. While the Wolverines will be back on the road for the final week of the period (starting today), they missed out on face-to-face contact with top targets and were unable to conduct their normal evaluations for underclassmen.
Michigan can make up for lost time at its summer satellite camps. So far, the Wolverines are locked in for three camps and will kick things off in their own backyard by partnering with Wayne State on May 31 and June 1.
This camp is being sponsored by Sound Mind Sound Body, a Detroit-based 7v7, training and mentorship program. Current Michigan players like Semaj Morgan and Bryce Underwood were part of the program as recruits. Sound Mind Sound Body is now home to Top 100 2026 wide receiver target CJ Sadler, elite 2027 targets like Top 100 wide receiver Dakota Guerrant and On300 offensive lineman Jameer Henry and elite 2028 quarterback Donald Tabron.
Michigan’s staff will then head to Texas, where it will partner with SMU for its June 2 camp. The Dallas-Fort Worth area is critical to Michigan’s 2026 recruiting class as it is home to prospects like five-star offensive lineman Felix Ojo, Top 100 offensive lineman John Turntine, On300 defensive back Jordan Deck and four-star offensive lineman Zaden Krempin. The Wolverines have already landed one prospect from DFW this cycle in three-star wide receiver Jaylen Pile.

Michigan will also be in Georgia for a satellite camp with Kennesaw State on June 4. The Wolverines have been extremely active in the Peach State this cycle and landed three-star offensive lineman Bear McWhorter. U-M is also in the mix for prospects like Top 100 defensive lineman Deuce Geralds, On300 linebacker Brayden Rouse, On300 running back Amari Latimer and four-star cornerback Dorian Barney.
The Wolverines will likely to set up a few more stops in coming weeks.
Michigan has five commits in its 2026 recruiting class — Top 100 Newberry Park (Calif.) High quarterback Brady Smigiel, On300 Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin cornerback Brody Jennings, three-star Cartersville (Ga.) Cass offensive lineman Bear McWhorter, three-star Washington (D.C.) St. John’s EDGE Tariq Boney and three-star Dallas (Texas) Parish Episcopal wide receiver Jaylen Pile.
