The Michigan Wolverines moved to 1-0 on the season with a 30-10 win over Fresno State on Saturday night in Ann Arbor with all eyes now on the Texas Longhorns. It will be a top-10 matchup this weekend with the latest AP poll released after the Labor Day weekend batch of games.

Michigan fell one spot to No. 10 in this week’s poll, while Texas comes in at No. 3 after its 52-0 win over Colorado State in the season opener, pitting two top-10 teams and two College Football Playoff teams from last season.

Five Big Ten teams are in the poll this week, headlined by Ohio State at No. 2. Oregon (7th), Penn State (8th), Michigan (10th), USC (13th) and Iowa round out the group from the newly expanded conference.

Georgia takes the top spot again after a 34-3 thrashing of Clemson during the opening weekend. The rest of the top five is filled out by Ohio State, Texas, Alabama and Ole Miss.

The next poll edition will be out on Sunday for the rest of the season. The full poll heading into the second full weekend of action can be seen below:

Sherrone Moore weighs in on Texas game

Michigan head coach knows the opportunity ahead of them this weekend. He addressed the Texas game to kick off the week on Monday.

“We’re super excited for the challenge. You know, we’ve got a really good football team coming in, in all three phases. Coach Sark has done a really good job with the program. And, you know, on offense, they present challenges because the way he calls the game and what he does, his creativity, his rhythm. Obviously, they have a really great quarterback. Skilled players, fast everywhere. Running back is really good. I know they got the other two that got hurt, but the running back they have now is really good, too. And the line is as good as you’ll see in the country.

“So, I know our defense is excited for the challenge to go against them in offensively. Their defense played very well. Sound, not very many mistakes. I think they have four returning starters on defense and they have guys that have played. So, super excited for Saturday.”

Saturday’s game is set for a noon eastern kickoff from Michigan Stadium with FOX carrying the broadcast. Texas is currently listed as a 7-point favorite in the Vegas odds.
