Michigan remains keyed in on King (MI.) quarterback Dante Moore as their top quarterback target but are continuing to evaluate some of the other top gunslingers in the country. Per Justin Wells of Inside Texas, Michigan recently offered Isidore Newman (LA.) quarterback Arch Manning, the No. 1 overall prospect in the country.

Manning is the son of Cooper Manning, the nephew of Peyton and Eli, and the grandson of Archie. Peyton, Eli and Archie were all-SEC stars who reached the NFL. Eli won two Super Bowl MVPs, while Peyton landed in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Manning is playing the recruiting process very close to vest and doesn’t publicly broadcast new offers. Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh offered Manning via Isidore Newman head coach Nelson Stewart in recent days, with the offer only becoming public now.

Per the Isidore Newman head coach, Harbaugh is expected to make a visit to Isidore Newman to see Manning in person after the dead period. Stewart added that Harbaugh “loves” the junior’s makeup.

NCAA rules prohibit Harbaugh from having recruiting discussions with Manning while on campus. So don’t expect any reports of lengthy discussions with Manning from Harbaugh’s visit.

Take it with a grain of salt, but for what it’s worth, while delivering the offer, Harbaugh also told Stewart he is staying at Michigan.

Manning doesn’t have any visits lined up for the spring just yet, but that could change. Manning will look to map out destinations for visits later this spring to watch college practices during spring ball and sit in on during team and practice meetings.

As it stands, don’t expect Michigan to receive a visit from Manning and Co., but that too could change after Harbaugh visits Isidore Newman in the coming weeks.

Stanford and Oklahoma also entered the mix for Manning in recent weeks. New Oklahoma offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby was recruiting Manning to Ole Miss previously, and the relationship could see the Sooners make a big leap among the contenders for the talented gunslinger.

As it stands, Manning’s top five remains Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss and Clemson. His timeline for a decision remains fluid and as Wells noted, Manning and his family will “continue this process in the most professional and pragmatic way possible.”

In ten games as a junior, Manning threw more than 2,000 passing yards and threw 26 touchdown passes with four interceptions in 2021. He also rushed for 365 yards and scored eight touchdowns on the ground.
