Chase Foster II is only a freshman, and he’s quickly emerging as one of the top prospects in the 2028 class. He earned a Michigan offer over the weekend after a trip to Ann Arbor that left a lasting impression on the edge rusher.

The 6-4 underclassman from Fayetteville (Ga.) Dutchtown High enjoyed his Saturday with the Wolverines and added a scholarship to a growing list in the process. He already holds offers from Tennessee, Arkansas, SMU and others. Foster is still in the super early stages of his recruiting process, and he’s enjoying it so far.

“It’s been really exciting,” Foster said. “Me and my mom, going to all these new colleges we’ve never seen before and talking to new people, meeting new people, coaches, players, all that has been exciting.”

His trip from Georgia to Ann Arbor went smoothly. This was his first visit with the Big Ten program, and Foster had nothing but positive things to say about the experience. He previously visited schools like Tennessee, Georgia and Florida State, but Michigan stood out from the rest.

“The food was great,” Foster said. “I liked the food. And the school, I loved the school, probably my favorite school that I’ve been to so far.”

Foster is going through his early visits focused on which program offers the best fit for him. He’s a freshman in high school but already knows he likely wants to study business, so Michigan pitched him on the opportunity to enjoy U-M’s prestigious academics while also joining one of the nation’s top football programs.

Defensive line coach Lou Esposito is his primary recruiter. Foster appreciated the staff’s clear communication during the visit and said it didn’t feel too “Hollywood.”

“The culture,” Foster said. “It felt like family.”

Michigan’s visitors went bowling over the weekend, which Foster enjoyed. The lineman and his mother were getting ready to leave when Esposito stopped them and offered the freshman. Foster said he was excited about that moment and likes what he’s hearing from Esposito so far.

“A great coach,” Foster said. “I like the way he coaches…a great guy, and I would love to get coached by him some time.”

Foster will spend this offseason in the weight room and said he’s already around 270 pounds. He’s also focused on improving his speed and agility. UCF, Miami and USF will host him this spring. Later this year, the class of 2028 prospect hopes to visit Michigan again for a fall game day.
