Michigan Wolverines football heads to Indianapolis next week for Big Ten Football Media Days with a plethora of storylines to hit on ahead of the unofficial kickoff to the 2024 season.

TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome and Chris Balas previewed next week’s media day event in Indianapolis on the Thursday podcast and what Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore, running back Donovan Edwards, defensive back Makari Paige and fullback Max Bredeson can bring to the event.

Also included is a chat about offseason takeaways, chief among them with the largest remaining plot thread in terms of the quarterback position.

“A lot of the judging [of Moore] is going to come on how that quarterback performs, right?” Balas said on the show. “If the quarterback is the one thing holding this team back from being a contender or from being a playoff team, then you’re going to have a lot of people saying, why didn’t you get your quarterback in the portal? That won’t be unfair because we were wondering the same thing. J.J. McCarthy didn’t decide until later on. It was going to be tough until it was clear that J.J. was moving on. But they seem to think that they’ve got the guy in the room and they’ve said multiple times, we’ve got several D1 starters on our roster.

Jack Tuttle we’ve heard good things about in terms of summer ball which really doesn’t mean a whole lot. It does mean that accuracy in 7-on-7s is important. And he’s more accurate than Alex Orgi at this point. Orgi still has several weeks to work towards [the starting job]. To me, that’s what it’s all going to come down to. They’ve got pieces everywhere else. If you look at the offensive line, four stars, five stars, even the defensive line is the best in the country. You look at the depth on defense. Outstanding. I think that offensive line is going to be very good. Wide receivers. You’ve got four stars across the board.

“So to me, that’s what it’s going to come down to in terms of [offensive coordinator] Kirk Campbell and the way they use these guys. If you are going to go with Alex Orji, then you better have an offense tailored to him and not trying to make it Denard Robinson in a passing offense again.”
