Topics from this podcast

We discuss the following on this episode of the podcast:

• The Michigan quarterback battle. Reports, including from head coach Jim Harbaugh, say that Cade McNamara and J.J. McCarthy are neck and neck so far. What does that mean for the rest of fall camp and the season ahead? Each guy gives their take on how it will and should shake out.

• The loaded wide receiver room. Whoever wins the Michigan quarterback job has a lot of weapons to work with at wideout, running back and tight end. Harbaugh said this week that the wide receivers in particular have the license and ability to be the best group he’s had in his eight seasons here. That’s high praise, and many feel the same.

• The ‘no-star’ defense that keeps being alluded to. Michigan wants a cohesive unit, and that’ll be the approach, but our hosts also believe the Wolverines will have some stars by seasons end.

• Howard’s NIL comments. He said Michigan ‘can do better’ with NIL, sharing in the frustrations expressed by some fans over the last year-plus since the new rules passed. There’s clearly disconnect between what he wants and what the Wolverines are doing, and that’s concerning. He mentioned the basketball team not having a collective as something he wasn’t happy about.
