Wolverine TV podcast: Michigan football, basketball score transfer portal wins, best and worst case for U-M this fall
TheWolverine.com‘s Clayton Sayfie, Anthony Broome and Chris Balas break down the latest surrounding Michigan Wolverines football and basketball on this episode of the podcast. We discuss the additions of former UMass cornerback Josh Wallace to the football team and former Tennessee forward Olivier Nkamhoua to the hoops roster. Then, we break down the best and worst case scenarios for the Maize and Blue on the gridiron this fall.
Wallace, who’s played 39 career games and was a three-time team captain, adds depth to the Michigan cornerback group.
“I like it. And people could say this was a plan D, and that might be the case, but guys have gotta be on their game to play in that [UMass head coach and former Michigan defensive coordinator] Don Brown defense, the corners do, so you know he’s gotten a lot of balls thrown at him, he was on an island. And they liked what they saw on film.
“Extremely smart and seems like another great fit. That’s what I love about these portal additions, is these guys are all cultural fits. They are not revamping the roster — they are just adding to the roster and complementing what they have and giving guys opportunities to compete.
“Basically, there are no freebies here at Michigan, and that’s what all these guys understand. They aren’t saying, ‘Well, if this guy enters the portal then I’m leaving.’ They understand that competition matters and that’s what’s going to make them better.

“I like the addition. We’ll see how good he is, but he had some big-time offers. It’s not like this was a reach. He’s going to have an opportunity to come in here and play.”
