Keys to the Game: Michigan football vs. Indiana

Michigan has won six straight games by 24 or more points for the first time since 1992. If the Wolverines win by 24 or more points this weekend, it’ll be seven in a row for the first time since 1976.

“Michigan’s not just winning, they’re not just winning big — they’re winning in blowout fashion every week,” Sayfie said. “J.J. McCarthy has attempted 4 passes in fourth quarters!”

“That’s adjusted for the caliber of schedule, too,” Broome pointed out of Michigan. “Being that you’re in the same breath as those teams, I wouldn’t say it’s irrelevant, but I look at it more as we look at the storyline with this football team is that they haven’t played anyone. I get it. No one on there is going to have you shaking in your boots. So much of it is what it’s looked like so far, and I haven’t really seen this team break a sweat, other than the Bowling Green game where the only reason you were breaking a sweat at all was because of self inflicted wounds.

“For me, I think it speaks mostly to the way that this team is handling its business. This is a veteran group. A lot of guys that are on this team in prominent roles were on the Michigan team in 2021, 2022. They really are ‘one game at a time’ personified. There may be little blips on the radar that come up here and there, but that’s football.”

Michigan’s next test is the Indiana Hoosiers. The Wolverines are favored by a whopping 33.5 points, so there’s a good chance the train will keep on rolling. The Maize and Blue then take on Michigan State in East Lansing before a bye week. They have won 18 consecutive Big Ten games, which is tied for the longest such streak in program history with a span from 1990-92. If they win Saturday, it will be the Wolverines’ longest ever streak.
