Wolverine TV: Juwan Howard, Michigan players react to Purdue loss
Michigan Wolverines basketball head coach Juwan Howard, sophomore center Hunter Dickinson and fifth-year senior guard DeVante’ Jones met with the media following the team’s 82-76 loss at Purdue Saturday afternoon in West Lafayette.
Purdue led by 12 points with nine minutes to go, but Michigan fought back and made it a game at the end. By the two-minute mark, the Wolverines trailed by only four points and had a chance. Turnovers down the stretch killed the Maize and Blue, and the defense didn’t get enough stops.
Dickinson finished with a game-high 28 points on 12-of-17 shooting from the field, including two made three-pointers. He added two rebounds and two assists, and did turn the ball over four times. After sitting a significant amount with foul trouble during Tuesday’s win over Nebraska, Dickinson played 36 minutes and was a workhorse. He went up against Purdue’s duo of elite big men on the defensive end, with Zach Edey scoring 13 points and Trevion Williams poured in 19 points. Guard Jaden Ivey scored a team-high 23 points for the Boilermakers, who shot 52 percent from the field and made 17 free throws.
Jones was second on the Michigan team in scoring with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor. He dished out four assists and pulled down four rebounds in 32 minutes.
