There was a report from the Wall Street Journal Sunday evening that Harbaugh had a contract offer “rescinded” by the university amid the current NCAA investigation into Michigan and potential illegal in person scouting. Harbaugh was asked about it and said, “I wouldn’t say that’s accurate, no.
Added the Michigan coach: “The university has a policy — I think they made a statement — a policy on contracts and publicly talking about them. I think it was worded something like, they don’t comment about them until after they’re done.”
Harbaugh was also asked how the investigation into Michigan could possibly affect his legacy at U-M, but he declined to answer that and stated his focus on the upcoming game and stretch run.
“The team is refreshed,” Harbaugh replied. “I’m refreshed. Opportunity to spend time with the families after a pretty good week of practice last week. Got some things done. We’re in an onward mode, so to answer your question specifically, it’s a one track mind, that I’m modeling and I see it throughout the program.”

Harbaugh also was asked about the private investigative firm that apparently presented the NCAA with ‘evidence’ that led to the NCAA opening up the Michigan investigation. Harbaugh said his focus is not on how that came about.
“I’m not going to get into … I’ve got a one track mind. I’m not going to be speculating. Can let others speculate on that, the various speculation that is out there. It would be unfair to the team to not just be coaching the team.”
Negative headlines have swirled over the last week and a half about the Michigan program. Harbaugh didn’t have a specific message to the fans about it when asked.
“Again, that’s speculation,” Harbaugh said. “I would say, everybody is entitled to their opinion.”
Michigan takes on Purdue Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC. The Maize and Blue are ranked No. 2 in the country and 8-0 heading into the final four games of the season in November.
