Harbaugh was asked about Michigan playing through distractions, with the NCAA opening up an investigation into illegal sign stealing practices earlier this week.

“Our guys really had a single mindset of getting prepared, beating State,” the Michigan coach said. “That was pretty much … if anybody around the building wanted to talk about anything else, they didn’t’ want to. They wanted to just talk about the game, preparation, practice, and getting ready to play and execute. And I thought they played their best.

“We’ve got a little saying around here that what you do speaks so loudly, we can’t even hear what you’re saying. I thought our guys did a tremendous job of taking it one play at a time, and they were a real buzz saw. Played really great football.

“And yeah, there’s been stuff. There’s been attempts to diminish the team in a lot of ways, starting with easy schedule, too easy a schedule — these guys aren’t very good, that kind of thing. But they just play. We’ll do that again today, move on with humble hearts, but it’s a heck o fa group and I just congratulate them. Their focus was laser like. Stay strong, focused, just on a mission.”

Harbaugh was also asked if Michigan has a target on its back.

“I think success does that,” the coach said. “There are people who don’t like to see people be successful. And there’s a target — yeah. I think everybody’s pointed that out at the beginning of the season. But our guys are just very focused. Just go about their business, you know. Wake up, take care of business today. Still got to get the guys back to Ann Arbor, wake up tomorrow and take care of business again.”

Harbaugh said earlier this season that Michigan has been defying gravity with its ability to stay successful despite forces trying to bring it down.

“Just staying so locked in,” the Michigan coach noted of how it’s been able to happen. “They’ve done it with work, the good old-fashioned way. And they play for each other. There’s just no question about that. It’s so obvious They apparent locked in-ness they have week to week is also at a really high level. And I think that really comes back to they play for each other.”
