Former Michigan Wolverines quarterback Alex Orji has found his new school, committing to UNLV on Saturday to play for first-year head coach Dan Mullen out in Las Vegas. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder spent three seasons at Michigan, appearing in 20 games with three starts.

This season, Orji played in 10 games, completing 23 of 44 passes (52 percent) for 148 yards and 3 touchdowns with an interception. He also rushed 53 times for 260 yards and a score.

Orji started three Big Ten games after senior Davis Warren was benched following non-conference play, going 2-1 with wins over USC and Minnesota and a loss to Washington. In the game in Seattle, he was replaced by graduate Jack Tuttle.

Michigan quote of the day

“They were pretty late recruiting me, but Coach (Grant) Newsome called me, and we kicked it off from ther. I had around 30 offers. I narrowed it down and had visits set with Pitt, North Carolina and Kansas State. I was looking at Wisconsin and Indiana. But I took my first visit with Michigan since it was so close. I fell in love with it and decided it was home. I picked Michigan because it’s close to home. I grew up watching Michigan football. I just love the way they play upfront.”
