Michigan QB Davis Warren reveals severity of knee injury suffered in Alabama win
Michigan Wolverines senior quarterback Davis Warren announced Saturday that he tore his ACL in the 19-13 ReliaQuest Bowl win over Alabama. He was injured in the third quarter of the game and returned to the sideline in regular clothes on crutches with a knee brace on.
Warren’s timetable for recovery is unknown, but his message on social media indicated that he plans to return to Ann Arbor for a fifth season.

“Celebrating a win and so proud of the way the boys finished this season! I unfortunately suffered a torn ACL in the bowl game,” Warren said on Saturday, sharing a photo of himself enjoying the warm weather. “Thanks to the Michigan faithful for all the support this season. Can’t wait to battle to be back on the field with my guys in AA and go blue!”
Warren had been weighing a return to Michigan for his fifth and final season of eligibility, and he will not spend the next several months working on a return to the field. This season, he started 9 of 13 games for the Maize and Blue, compiling a 6-3 record with 134 completions on 209 attempts (64.1 percent) with 1,199 yards, 7 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He posted his highest passer rating (153.6) and QBR (88.8) in the win over Alabama, going 9-for-12 for 73 yards with a touchdown pass.

Michigan’s 2025 quarterback room is getting a facelift coming off of a season where it had the 4th-worst passing offense in the country, averaging 129.1 yards per game through the air and only 5.4 yards per attempt. It started a trio of signal-callers in 2024 in Warren, junior Alex Orji and graduate Jack Tuttle.
Now, it will be built around 2025’s top overall recruit, Five-Star+ quarterback Bryce Underwood. Michigan also addressed the position via the transfer portal in former Fresno State quarterback Mikey Keene, who has thrown for over 8,000 yards with 65 touchdowns in his career. Additionally, it grabbed a commitment from 2025 quarterback Chase Herbstreit late in the process, the son of ESPN analyst and former Ohio State signal-caller Kirk Herbstreit.
Michigan’s quarterback room and offense will be led by new coordinator Chip Lindsey, who joins the program after two seasons at North Carolina. He replaces Kirk Campbell, who was the team’s offensive coordinator in 2024 and its quarterbacks coach the last two seasons.
