Charles Woodson visits Michigan for BBQ at The Big House
Michigan hosted dozens of commits and targets in the 2024 and 2025 classes, along with several more younger underclassmen, during last weekend’s annual BBQ at The Big House.
Early reports coming out of the festivities are positive with two five-star offensive prospects, including the No. 1 overall player in the country, stepping foot on campus. There was also momentum gained with various other offered recruits, both locally and out of region.

Charles Woodson
The 1997 Heisman Trophy winner has been active in person and on social media regarding Michigan’s recruiting efforts this offseason. His undeniable love for the program also leads to frequent returns to Ann Arbor as his celebrity status was one of the highlights this weekend at the barbecue.
Multiple visitors have told The Wolverine how great it was to meet and take pictures with Woodson on campus. Some of whom have even shared on Twitter and Instagram their individual moment alongside the Super Bowl champion.
Bryce Underwood
The Wolverine was told Sunday that Michigan brought in five-star Belleville (Mich.) High quarterback Bryce Underwood for a return visit. It was the fifth time since March in which the nation’s No. 1 ranked quarterback has been to campus. As the priority target under center for the Wolverines in the 2025 cycle, Underwood’s proximity to Ann Arbor and his ever-growing physical ceiling is a must-land.
Underwood, who’s also considering LSU and other schools, went back to Baton Rouge on Friday for a multi-day stay with the Tigers. His commitment date is set for January 6 as quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell continues to build on his established bond with the 6-foot-3, 210-pounder.
David Sanders
Michigan has earned two 2024 verbal commitments from Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day in Top 100 quarterback Jadyn Davis and three-star wide receiver Channing Goodwin. Up next out of the North Carolina juggernaut is five-star offensive tackle David Sanders, the No. 5 overall prospect in the country.
Sanders’ first offer was from Michigan but last weekend was the first time that he visited the school. A tough engagement between many of the top southern-based Power 5 elites will be in store for the Wolverines in hopes of landing Sanders but the barbecue helped reign in what they can provide on and off the field.

2024 Recruiting Class & One 2025 Commit
A relatively quiet presence on social media came from the 14 commits who make up Michigan’s 2024 recruiting class and arrived for the barbecue. Among the attendees included Top 100 running back Jordan Marshall, On300 linebacker Jeremiah Beasley, On300 linebacker Jaden Smith, On300 offensive tackle Blake Frazier, Top 100 tight end Brady Prieskorn, four-star wide receiver I’Marion Stewart and four-star interior offensive lineman Luke Hamilton.
U-M’s 26 commits rank No. 6 overall in the 2024 On3 Industry National Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 2 in the Big Ten Conference behind only Ohio State.
Top 100 Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna cornerback Chris Ewald Jr. went back to Michigan for the third time since his announced commitment back in December. He was joined by safety teammate Zaquan Patterson, the No. 80 player in the 2024 class. Patterson, one of the few remaining targets on the board for Michigan this cycle, has been to Ann Arbor twice in less than two months. The pair were at Auburn before flying for the barbecue.
One Offer Extended
Michigan pulled the trigger on 2025 Glenside (Pa.) Central Bucks East interior offensive lineman Michael Carroll on Sunday. At 6-foot-5, 300 pounds, Carroll possesses four other Big Ten offers in Michigan State, Maryland, Rutgers and Penn State. While not currently ranked by On3, he’s the No. 9 ranked player in the state of Pennsylvania on another primary recruiting media service. Offensive line coach Sherrone Moore issued the news to Carroll on campus.
More Sights & Sounds
Over 30 recruits with offers or on the radar were at Michigan’s barbecue. Here are some of the other visitors who posted about their time in Ann Arbor.
