Belleville (Mich.) High quarterback Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 overall ranked recruit in the 2025 class, according to On3, announced on social media that he was back at Michigan for an unofficial visit Thursday.

Underwood’s return comes after himself and family made more than one stop in Ann Arbor this past month to take in spring practice and to meet Michigan quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell in person.

“Coach Campbell is a great person because he’s a family guy,” Underwood told The Wolverine on March 15th. “That’s a good thing to have and a good tradition to have (in a coach). He wants me to be a quarterback at Michigan. So did Coach (Jim) Harbaugh. Relationships are everything to me so that’s what it comes down to.”

Campbell, who was elevated to the new role with Michigan this past January, has made Underwood a top priority next cycle.

“He called my dad once (before the visit),” Underwood said. “So when he talked to my dad, we were able to figure out what Coach Campbell is about. Once we got up there, I was able to learn more about him. My dad and I had a conversation afterwards. He thinks Coach Campbell is a great coach, too.

“(Campbell) is more of an in-game type of coach rather than doing drills and stuff that have nothing to do with the game. It was great to see.”

On3 is the only major recruiting service that ranks Underwood as the top sophomore prospect nationally. However, all four are in agreement of Underwood considered to be the No. 1 rated quarterback in the country and the No. 1 player in the state of Michigan.

The 6-foot-3 and 210-pound dual-threat playmaker is coming off his second-straight MHSAA Division I championship and back-to-back MaxPreps All-American honors.

So far, Michigan’s 2025 recruiting class, listed at No. 5 overall on the On3 Industry National Team Recruiting Rankings, has two verbal commitments – Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna four-star cornerback Chris Ewald Jr and Buford (Ga.) High linebacker Mantrez Walker.

Underwood has an On3 NIL Valuation of $309K with 30,000 combined followers on all social media platforms. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
