Michigan cornerback commit Jo’Ziah Edmond finished with four total tackles, including one for a loss, one sack, four catches for 49 yards, six carries for 16 yards and a punt that went 37 yards in his game this past Friday.

The Wolverine’s Zach Libby was onsite and captured exclusive clips from the contest. Watch highlights of Edmond in the video above.

Edmond Recruitment

Edmond committed to Michigan shortly following his visit on campus for the late July BBQ at The Big House.

Originally a Purdue pledge, Edmond decommitted on August 1 and shortly made the decision to side with the Wolverines.

“We knew Michigan was his number one choice, and he had to go to the camp to make himself known,” Edmond’s mentor and 7v7 coach J.R. Niklos told The Wolverine. “I had him sit down and talk to (Michigan wide receiver commit) I’Marion (Stewart) and his family about what he could do to get noticed. He had no previous contact with Michigan. He wasn’t even invited to that camp. He just showed up. Nobody knew who he was, and he put on a show. They really liked him. Once they offered him, it was a no brainer. That was always his No. 1 choice.”

At 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, Edmond is listed as the No. 648 overall prospect and No. 28 athlete in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four primary recruiting media services. He’s also the No. 8 player in Indiana.

“I don’t think he got a ton of attention heading into last season, but he really put his name on the map because of how he played,” On3’s directors of scouting and rankings Charles Power told The Wolverine. “I’m looking forward to seeing more of him as a senior because he’s an ascending prospect. He could be a Power 5 receiver if he wanted to. That projects well if you’re projected as a defensive back because you want your defensive backs to have that big playmaking ability.”
