August 1 is a major date on the recruiting trail for Michigan.

Not only did the two-time defending Big Ten Champions and every other Division I program get the green light to begin direct correspondence with 2025 targets on Tuesday, official offers to 2024 commits and recruits were handed out too.

Normally, August 1 is set up for only the official offers but this year, the NCAA has decided to move 2025 communication back a month from September 1. Regarding offers, any interest for a perspective player prior to Tuesday was done verbally, similar to a commitment.

Offer graphics got sent at midnight to all of Michigan’s 2024 recruiting class and the remaining targets on the board. Featured in the illustration is a statement from head coach Jim Harbaugh. The message from Harbaugh this year compared to last year is similar but different the graphic is different in terms of color, background and layout.

“It takes an extraordinary young to join the University of Michigan Football Family,” Harbaugh wrote.” Our legacy of being the ALL-TIME WINNINGEST PROGRAM IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY demands we seek those who excel in the classroom, on the field, and in the community. We want driven individuals who strive to get the best grades, win the most awards, and excel at sports. You have stood out to us as a leader in all areas of life. We know you will be the perfect addition to this next class of trailblazers.”

Of the recipients who got the graphic was Top 100 Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna safety Zaquan Patterson, who’s coming off his fifth visit to Michigan this past weekend for the annual BBQ at The Big House. He returned with teammate and Top 100 U-M cornerback commit Chris Ewald Jr.

Patterson also flew out to Michigan on June 23 alongside Ewald after checking out spring practice three months earlier.

“It was a good visit,” Patterson told The Wolverine. “” got to talk to the coaches and build relationships with them. For the most part, I got to see what it would be like to be a student athlete at Michigan. They pretty much showed me everything I want to see like player development and education, but I’m excited to go back out for the official.”

Top 100 Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day quarterback Jadyn Davis, On300 Kansas City Rockhurst offensive tackle Andrew Sprague and four-star Chicago (Ill.) Kenwood Academy wide receiver I’Marion Stewart were among the Michigan commits who took to Twitter to share the graphic.
