Signee Spotlight: Top 100 OT Andrew Sprague shares decision on signing with Michigan
Top 100 Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst offensive tackle Andrew Sprague has submitted his National Letter of Intent and is officially signed with Michigan after being verbally committed since April.
The Wolverine’s Zach Libby caught up with Sprague to discuss his decision, why he stayed solid with the Wolverines throughout the process and more. Watch the exclusive interview above.
Sprague Recruitment
Sprague made three unofficial visits to Michigan prior to his commitment shortly following this year’s spring game. He chose the Wolverines over notable offers from Nebraska, Notre Dame, Missouri, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Auburn, Texas A&M, USC, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Colorado and others.
“They started my recruitment towards the top,” Sprague told The Wolverine. “It got to a point where I was comparing everything to Michigan. At the end of the day, I knew it was going to be Michigan. It just felt like home. Going back up there for the spring game with some of the guys made it that much better. I decided to pull the trigger, and now, I can help recruit other guys. Obviously, they have the best offensive line. Back-to-back Joe Moore Awards, you can’t really go wrong with that.”
Offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore and head coach Jim Harbaugh played a marquee role in securing a pledge from Sprague in the spring.
“He’s one of those special guys who’s not just a great player,” Rockhurst head coach Kelly Donohoe told The Wolverine. “He’s a big ‘ole kid. But he’s a tremendous student and cares a lot about his teammates. He does all of the things that you want a player to do. He does things right. That’s what I told (the Michigan) coaches when they came here. (They’re) getting a guy who’s going to make your program proud with how he conducts himself. He’s going to be at every class. He’ll get a degree. He’ll do the things that are necessary and will go above and beyond to be a great player. He’s going to be a great teammate. He’s a special young man.”
Sprague led Rockhurst to a 10-2 record this past season, advancing to the MSHSAA Class 6 Semifinals. His team finished with 1,661 passing yards, 1,513 rushing yards, and 39 total touchdowns, while Sprague won first-team All-State honors from the Missouri Football Coaches Association.

Sprague has an On3 NIL Valuation of $115K with 5.5K followers on Instagram and Twitter. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
He’s set to enroll in June.
At 6-foot-8, 295 pounds, Sprague is listed as the No. 98 overall prospect and No. 6 offensive tackle in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four primary recruiting media services. He’s also the No. 5 player in Missouri.
Scouting Report
“Tall, high-cut offensive tackle with light feet and developmental upside. Measured in at 6-foot-8 and around 295 pounds prior to his senior season. Looks to be one of the taller top offensive linemen in the 2024 cycle. Added a good bit of weight during his junior year. Has unverified length, but does not appear to be overly long for the position. A nimble mover. Works to the second level with relative ease as a run blocker. Shows his light feet and reactive quickness with lateral agility as a pass protector. Improved strength and physicality from his sophomore to junior seasons. Will need to continue working on overall functional strength and pad level. Higher-hipped prospect who must be cognizant of his flexibility, but showing signs of better bend and a stronger base. Doubles as a very good high school basketball player, flashing his plus movement skills and overall coordination as a back to the basket big man. Has developmental upside with continued physical and technical progression.” – On3 director of scouting and rankings Charles Power
