Meet The Commits: Updated overview of Michigan's 2024 recruiting class

Michigan is tied for fourth with the most 2024 verbal commitments (26) across the Power 5 level.

Possessing three pledges ranked in the Top 100, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four primary recruiting media companies, Michigan is also No. 16 overall on the 2024 On3 Industry National Team Recruiting Rankings. 

The Wolverine takes a deep dive on every commit and how Michigan was able to land each athlete. 

RB Jordan Marshall

How We Got Here: Jordan Marshall originally planned to schedule a commitment date during July but shut down his recruitment shortly following a third unofficial visit to Michigan in March. Beating out Ohio State in a highly publicized fashion, running backs coach Mike Hart led the efforts to establish close relationships and daily communication with Marshall and his family.

Taking nine total unofficial visits to Ann Arbor going back to June of last year, Davis and his family connected well with Michigan quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell on his March return and went ahead with a decision shortly afterward.

Prieskorn was long regarded as the top tight end target on Michigan’s board this cycle, with assistant coach Grant Newsome locking in two commits at the position in back-to-back classes.

How We Got Here: Blake Frazier is the son of former Michigan offensive lineman Steve Frazier and was a high priority for Moore . He visited in March with a number of 2024 commits and posted a Tweet that went viral which featured him, Davis, Marshall and Prieskorn. That return was followed up by a verbal commitment almost exactly a month later.

How We Got Here: Cole Sullivan was a lean to Notre Dame this past winter and early spring until Michigan brought him and his family on two unofficial visits in March. Meetings with strength and conditioning coach Ben Herbert, who’s a fellow native of Pittsburgh, head coach Jim Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Jesse Minter propelled the Wolverines to receive a commitment from Sullivan in mid-May. Former linebackers coach Chris Partridge had a close relationship with Sullivan, who still remains locked in.

How We Got Here: Jo’Ziah Edmond committed to Michigan on August 1, the same day he decommitted from Purdue, who held a pledge from the in-stater for close to two months. Edmond ended up camping in Michigan in June before returning for the late July annual BBQ at The Big House. He was recruited to Ann Arbor as a cornerback and was the first in the position to join the class.

The leaders of Ford Sports Performance, a training facility based in the Pacific Northwest that works year-round with Hansen, have built a strong connection with multiple Michigan coaching staff members, including Newsome and Albert Karschnia, director of recruiting operations.

The last unofficial visit that Oden made to Michigan, before his February commitment, came the month prior in which he was on campus individually to be with Clinkscale in an exclusive setting.

The Nashville-based training organization working with Curtis – National Players Academy – has a longtime relationship with Steve Clinkscale and has also produced sophomore linebacker Junior Colson.

Beasley took his official visit to Michigan over Victor’s Weekend alongside many of his future teammates, including Oden, a fellow SoundMind SoundBody member.

How We Got Here: Jeremiah Lowe constantly communicated with Clinkscale for much of the offseason. Michigan and Clinkscale view Lowe as a good fit at cornerback or nickel, with the latter attracted to the program because of its defensive back-friendly environment. Lowe has visited Ann Arbor six times, including two game-day appearances at The Big House this season.

How We Got Here: Zach Ludwig was a surprise commitment because he told the Michigan coaching staff of his plans following the Ohio State game back in November. However, the public wasn’t aware of Ludwig until early February. Ludwig, the nephew of Herbert, visited Ann Arbor while the Wolverines were preparing for the Buckeyes and was eventually welcomed with open arms by Harbaugh.
