Meet The Commits: A look at every member of Michigan's 2025 recruiting class
Michigan is No. 10 overall on the 2025 On3 Industry National Team Recruiting Rankings with three verbal commits, including one ranked in the Top 100, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four primary recruiting media companies.
The Wolverine takes a deep dive on every commit and how Michigan was able to land each athlete.
Top 100 CB Chris Ewald
Hometown: Hollywood, Florida
School: Chaminade-Madonna
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 161lbs
On3 Ranking: No. 73 Overall, No. 9 Cornerback, No. 10 in Florida

How We Got Here: Chris Ewald Jr. was the first 2025 recruit to commit to Michigan. He decided on December 16, 2022, making four flights to Ann Arbor before siding with the three-time defending Big Ten Champions. Co-defensive coordinator Steve Clinkscale has grown close with Ewald and his entire family, which has been beneficial as the Wolverines are fighting off heavy pushes from Florida State and Miami. Ewald took in the Ohio State game last month, where he reunited with five-star safety target DJ Pickett.

He received the maize and blue carpet treatment and found comprehensive comfort in the area as soon as he arrived. Quarterbacks Kirk Campbell was instrumental in entering the mix quickly and making Smith an early priority target. As the quarterback pledge, Smith is reveling in the leader role for the 2025 recruiting class and is working on a number of top prospects to join him.

Four-Star DL Bobby Kanka
Hometown: Howell, Michigan
School: Howell High
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 263lbs

The coaching staff issued an offer to Kanka in the early spring of 2022 and the junior made several unofficial visits leading up to his announced commitment shortly following the late July BBQ at The Big House this year.
