Michigan Recruiting Podcast: Recapping an eventful National Signing Day
The Wolverine’s EJ Holland shared his thoughts on several members of Michigan’s 2025 recruiting class following National Signing Day, including five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood.

Underwood Recruitment
Michigan offered Underwood when he was still in middle school and made him a top priority before ultimately bowing out of his recruitment last fall.
The Wolverines landed On300 Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith, while Underwood gave LSU a verbal pledge just a couple of months later. Smith, however, backed off of his pledge when U-M began to show interest in Underwood this fall.
Michigan turned up the heat on Underwood and put a competitive NIL offer on the table. That ultimately led to the Wolverines earning his verbal pledge last month. Underwood made things official on Wednesday evening.

Here is what Holland had to say about the Underwood win.
“The package they put together is around $10.5 million over four years,” Holland said. “Obviously, that is a lot of money and is the biggest reason Underwood started listening to Michigan. LSU impressed him on his official visit and also worked the NIL angle hard. Still, Michigan was not going to be beat. They went completely against their nature and did everything they could to win him over. Now, the Wolverines have the best player in the county as part of their 2025 class. It’s a historic win for Michigan.”
Underwood is ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit in the country, per the On3 Industry Ranking.
