Watts Recruitment
Watts recently told The Wolverine that his official visit to Michigan is slated for June 21-23. It’ll be his second offseason trip to Ann Arbor following a late March appearance inside Schembechler Hall for spring camp practice.
New offensive line coach Grant Newsome, who visited Watts at his school earlier this month, and head coach Sherrone Moore are leading the way to land the junior.
“Michigan is a school I’m very high on, and I love Coach Newsome,” Watts previously told The Wolverine. “I love the mentality that he brings and the energy he brings. He’s a young coach. He told me that he loves my pass protection. He thinks I can be an impact player on that offensive line. I love his method of coaching. He’s young and is getting into the drills with the guys.”
Here’s what Holland had to say about where Michigan stands.
“The Wolverines are now trending for Watts on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM),” Holland said. “This is a kid that visited Michigan in the spring and was blown away with the culture, the academics, and just the development of the offensive line. You know, Michigan historically has done well recruiting high-character kids out of New England. You talk about guys like Zak Zinter and Kalel Mullings that have turned into not just good players at Michigan but also really good ambassadors. Don Brown is long gone, but Michigan is still capable of landing that cream of the crop from New England. Watts is certainly that this cycle.”
