Michigan makes jump in national recruiting rankings after final 2024 On300 release
Michigan jumped to No. 15 overall on the 2024 On3 Industry National Team Recruiting Rankings following the final updated release of the 2024 On300 on Monday.
Of the 27 signees in U-M’s 2024 recruiting class, Forestville (Md.) Bishop McNamara EDGE Lugard Edokpayi is the lone athlete listed in the Top 100 nationally. After coming into the day at No. 182 overall, Lugard, who announced his commitment on early National Signing Day, rose 142 spots No. 40 in the country.
“He’s a guy who, developmentally, Michigan has had guys like this,” On3 director of scouting and rankings Charles Power told The Wolverine. “When you think about those high-drafted EDGE prospects, a lot of them fit the mold of someone like Lugard. You think about Kwity Paye, for instance. Different body types, for sure, but very athletic. After a couple of years (at Michigan) and he’s a top draft pick. I think Michigan has churned out guys like this. I feel good about (Edokpayi’s) upside and with development after a couple of years in Michigan’s program, I think he’d be a guy who wouldn’t yield an immediate impact, but he’d really turn it out after a year or two in the program.”
Four of the signees are in the Top 150, including Nappanee (Ind.) NorthWood cornerback Jo’Ziah Edmond, who went from No. 252 to No. 101 overall, and Pittsburgh (Pa.) Central Catholic linebacker Cole Sullivan went from No. 152 to No. 112 overall.
The update gave Michigan 10 total signees featured in the final On300.
Team rankings are determined based on each program’s 18 highest-rated pledges.
