Michigan releases statement confirming Jim Harbaugh suspension - Warde Manuel speaks
As first reported by TheWolverine.com, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh will miss the first three games of the 2023 football season under a U-M self-imposed sanction over alleged recruiting violations. The coach will be allowed to work day-to-day during the week and in practice, but he’ll sit out the ECU, UNLV, and Bowling Green games as designated by the university.

As also reported, this does not end the Harbaugh vs. the NCAA saga. As a result, this is expected to drag on for some time … some believe potentially into next season.
Michigan released a statement on the three-game suspension today.
“The University of Michigan Athletic Department today (August 21) announced that it is self-imposing sanctions in an ongoing NCAA matter related to its football program,” it read. “Included in the self-imposed sanctions is a three-game suspension for Head Coach Jim Harbaugh, to be served during the opening three regular-season games of the 2023 season. “While the ongoing NCAA matter continues through the NCAA process, today’s announcement is our way of addressing mistakes that our department has agreed to in an attempt to further that process,” Manuel said. “We will continue to support coach Harbaugh, his staff, and our outstanding student-athletes. Per the NCAA’s guidelines, we cannot comment further until the matter is resolved.”
