Newsstand: Report says Ohio State OL George Fitzpatrick was one of recruits Jim Harbaugh met with during dead period
Tweets Of The Day
Sports Illustrated columnist Michael Rosenberg penned a column Tuesday discussing how Michigan and Ohio State have turned each other in for rules violations over the years. An interesting detail came out of the piece — one of a few, actually — in that Ohio State offensive lineman George Fitzpatrick was one of the recruits Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh allegedly met with during the COVID-19 recruiting dead period in 2021.
Michigan sophomore cornerback Myles Pollard was also reportedly one of the recruits that the staff met with in person when it wasn’t supposed to.
Sources tell SI that Harbaugh met with another recruit, offensive lineman George Fitzpatrick, of Englewood, Colo., during the COVID-19 no-contact period. Fitzpatrick ended up at Ohio State. Fitzpatrick’s father, Mark, declined to comment to SI on his son’s behalf.
Despite having reportedly colluded by sharing play-calling signals with other Big Ten programs in an attempt to sabotage Michigan, Ohio State fans have whined and cried amid U-M’s investigation into alleged minor off-campus scouting violations potentially committed by a former junior staff who’s since resigned. Michigan has embarrassed the Buckeyes on the field each of the last two seasons, and OSU admitted to changing their signals up last season so that U-M didn’t have an advantage. Renowned FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd detailed how Harbaugh is in Ohio State’s head.

Quote Of The Day
“We prepare for this week every single week. it’s just, different periods that are sprinkled in, in practice. But, we’ve been preparing for this since the off-season. We have in the weight room ‘What are you doing today to beat Ohio State?’ [We’re ready for] the opportunity for it to finally be here, and be able to, go out on Saturday and showcase what we’ve been preparing for. And, just playing this game means a lot.”
