Michigan running back Blake Corum is 50-50 on a return for his senior year
Michigan football will be loaded next year, no matter what. But there’s a chance the Wolverines could have an unbelievable roster if some of the guys on the fence come back — one in particular in Blake Corum.

As reported here, junior running back Corum has been contemplating a return for his senior season since getting injured against Illinois in the second to last regular season game of the season. The junior running back tried to go against Ohio State but lasted only two carries before sophomore Donovan Edwards came back and carried the load.
Name, Image, and likeness (NIL) will likely factor into his decision, and he will have several opportunities to make a lot of money if he stays for one more year. If it’s worth his while, he could well come back for another season.
“I’m still trying to figure that out, honestly,” he told NFL insider Adam Schefter on his podcast today. “A lot has been happening recently with the injury. I’ve thought about it a little bit, but right now, I’m just trying to figure some things out, get my knee right.
“I have a couple weeks before I have to decide on what’s best for me and what I should do. I’m going to try to put some puzzle pieces together and see what’s best.
He has until Jan. 16 to declare, he noted.
Corum had knee surgery Dec. 2 in California. He’ll likely continue to rehab on the West Coast.
“Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers, surgery was a success,” he shared Dec. 3 (the day of the Big Ten title game) in a tweet. “I believe God does everything for a reason and this is just an obstacle I have to overcome along my journey.

“Even though I won’t be at the game today I will be there in spirit and best believe my guys are ready.”
Michigan leaned on Corum throughout the year. He led an elite rushing offense thanks to 1,463 yards and 18 rushing touchdowns. Heading into the week of the Illinois game, he was also considered one of the leaders in the clubhouse for the Heisman Trophy. He’d finish 7th.
Corum, the Chicago Tribune’s Silver Football winner as the Big Ten’s MVP, would likely be a favorite to win the Heisman if he returned for another year. For now, he’s still in wait and see mode.
“I’m 50-50. I have not made a decision,” he said. “I’m 50-50. It’s a hard decision. When I say that … I’ve got to think about what’s best for Blake Corum.”
