Michigan set to host transfer portal WR Donoven McCulley
The Michigan Wolverines are still in the middle of a 4-2 2024 campaign, but one eye is always kept on the future regarding roster building. It appears one of the major transfer portal targets to emerge early on is former Indiana wide receiver Donoven McCulley, who will visit for next weekend’s night game against the Michigan State Spartans on Oct. 26 according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Michigan offered the former Indiana quarterback/wide receiver during last winter’s portal cycle. During the 2023 season, he led the Hoosiers in catches (48), yards (644) and touchdowns (6) by a wide margin this season. McCulley (6-5, 200) also threw a 44-yard touchdown in the 52-7 loss to the Wolverines last year.
Under new head coach Curt Cignetti, he struggled to find a role in the offense. McCulley had two catches for 21 yards and a touchdown on the season for Indiana. He played in four of the first five games for the Hoosiers before announcing his intention to transfer.
For Michigan, it comes at a time when the wide receiver room has yet to see a consistent contributor emerge in a post-Roman Wilson/Cornelius Johnson world. This season, sophomore Semaj Morgan leads all wideouts through six games with 13 catches for 78 yards. Some of the group’s issues revolve around instability at quarterback, but a young room of players has not had anyone take a major step toward being a contributor.

FAU sources respond to Ray Lewis report from ESPN
Head coach Sherrone Moore addressed general manager Sean Magee currently keeping an eye toward the 2025 roster and beyond during his weekly press conference.
“He’s done a great job,” Moore said. “This is a different era of football, and you’ve got to have forward thinking of what you’re doing. We’re compiling names and data, not only of college [players] but high school, and trying to build it from the high school ranks to make sure we get a core foundation of that.
“I think we’re doing a good job with this [2025] recruiting class, and we’ll continue to bring in the pieces that we need to help immediately … to replace and do things and sustain the success that we need to get. So, he’s done a really good job managing the numbers and the roster.”
