No. 1 Michigan will be the home team for the Jan. 1 Rose Bowl / College Football Playoff semifinal against No. 4 Alabama. The Wolverines revealed the Rose Bowl patch that will be on the jersey with a social media post Thursday.

Former Michigan quarterback Dan Villari has played tight end for Syracuse after transferring. However, he’s had to play quarterback this season, in which his stat line is quite incredible. He’s caught 20 passes for 180 yards and 3 touchdowns, ran 55 tims for 326 yards and 2 scores and completed 23 of his 33 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown with 2 picks.

While he was at Michigan, head coach Jim Harbaugh envisioned (and shared publicly) a scenario where Villari could be a hybrid quarterback / tight end, like New Orleans Saints standout Taysom Hill. It appears Harbaugh, famous for his talent evaluation skills and unique ideas, was correct in his assessment that Villari had the capability.

“Dan Villari, for those who saw the spring game, was really good, really effective,” Harbaugh said in 2021. “Excited about Dan. Was kind of looking at Dan in multiple ways — throw out the name Taysom Hill, we’re gonna try to do some things like that with Dan Villari as a quarterback slash athlete that can really help our team. I think he can do it. A lot to like about Dan Villari.”

Michigan graduate defensive back and captain Mike Sainristil discusses the Wolverines, “who love each other.”

Quote Of The Day

“You feel like if it’s third down or it’s a second-and-long situation, you’re always looking for Barham. So many times this year, when it’s a down that Maryland needs a stop. And sometimes, yes, he did break through and have the big sack and the big play and the disruption there — but it’s that he’s causing fits for an offensive line, and then that opens up a hole for [Maryland linebacker] Ruben Hyppolite [II] or some of these defensive linemen for Maryland to get through and get to the quarterback or the running back.”
