Michigan spring offer tracker: Top 100 prospects and elite linebackers

Michigan’s staff hit the road as soon as the spring evaluation window opened and extended a wave of new offers. The Wolverines put a notable emphasis on extending their class of 2027 linebacker board this spring. 

Here’s a look at all of the new U-M recruits to know. Some of them have already visited the Wolverines or have plans to do so this summer. 

Top 100 safety Adryan Cole

School: Atlanta (Ga.) Pace Academy 

Ranking: No. 73 nationally, No. 8 safety, No. 8 in Georgia 

Height/Weight: 6-2, 185 pounds

Recruiting buzz: Cole hopes to visit Michigan at some point, possibly this summer. He considers the program a “powerhouse.” Georgia, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Alabama, Indiana and Miami are all showing him a lot of love right now. 

Top 100 athlete Sequel Patterson

School: Fort Mill (S.C.) Indian Land High 

Ranking: No. 59 nationally, No. 4 athlete, No. 2 in South Carolina 

Height/Weight: 6-0, 170 pounds

Sophomore stats: 1,234 all-purpose yards, 23 total tackles, 2 interceptions, 8 passes defended

Recruiting buzz: Patterson visited Michigan last April. He holds early offers from South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Top 100 linebacker Jalaythan Mayfield

School: Lincolnton (N.C.) High

Ranking: No. 96 nationally, No. 6 linebacker, No. 1 in North Carolina

Height/Weight: 6-1, 215 pounds

Sophomore stats: 109 total tackle (18 for loss), 10 sacks, 2 forced fumbles

Recruiting buzz: Mayfield has visited South Carolina more than any other school. He also holds offers from Alabama, Georgia and Florida. 

Top 100 linebacker Isaiah Phelps 

School: Oxnard (Calif.) Pacifica High

Ranking: No. 83 nationally, No. 4 linebacker, No. 8 in California

Height/Weight: 6-1, 185 pounds

Sophomore stats: 174 total tackles (8 for loss), 5 sacks, 2 interceptions, 5 passes defended

Recruiting buzz: Notre Dame, Oregon and USC have also offered Phelps. 

On300 athlete Brayton Feister

School: Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban 

Ranking: No. 102 nationally, No. 6 athlete, No. 3 in Ohio

Height/Weight: 6-3, 215 pounds 

Recruiting buzz: Michigan is recruiting Feister as a linebacker. He holds early offers from USC, Missouri, Kentucky and others. 

On300 running back Andrew Beard

School: Bogart (Ga.) Prince Avenue Christian

Ranking: No. 127 nationally, No. 12 running back, No. 18 in Georgia

Height/Weight: 5-9, 190 pounds

Sophomore stats: 1,937 rushing yards on 222 carries, 21 rushing touchdowns, 32 receptions for 535 yards, 5 touchdowns, 2,886 all-purpose yards

Recruiting buzz: Beard admires Michigan’s tradition at running back and wants to visit this summer or fall. Penn State, Clemson, Tennessee and Oklahoma all hosted him this spring. 

On300 edge rusher Ba’Roc Willis

School: Moody (Ala.) High

Ranking: No. 136 nationally, No. 15 edge rusher, No. 6 in Alabama

Height/Weight: 6-2, 235 pounds

Sophomore stats: 95 total tackles (26 for loss), 17 sacks, 38 quarterback hurries, 3 forced fumbles

Recruiting buzz: Willis has already taken double-digit trips to Alabama. Auburn, Ole Miss and LSU have also offered. 

On300 athlete Braden Gordon

School: The Montgomery (Ala.) Academy 

Ranking: No. 284 nationally, No. 13 athlete, No. 12 in Alabama

Height/Weight: 6-3, 190 pounds

Sophomore stats: 1,037 all-purpose yards, 50 total tackles (14 for loss), 11 sacks

Recruiting buzz: Gordon holds early offers from Alabama, Notre Dame and Ole Miss.

On300 linebacker Garyon Hobbs

School: Louisville (Ky.) Atherton High

Ranking: No. 296 nationally, No. 25 linebacker, No. 2 in Kentucky

Height/Weight: 6-0, 215 pounds

Recruiting buzz: Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Kentucky have offered Hobbs.

On300 linebacker Brandon Lockley 

School: Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s Prep 

Ranking: No. 260 nationally, No. 19 linebacker, No. 10 in Pennsylvania

Height/Weight: 6-1, 220 pounds

Recruiting buzz: Penn State and Syracuse have hosted Lockley on multiple occasions. 

On300 linebacker Ja’Bios Smith

School: Swainsboro (Ga.) High 

Ranking: No. 111 nationally, No. 7 linebacker, No. 15 in Georgia

Height/Weight: 6-3, 200 pounds

Sophomore stats: 88 total tackles (5 for loss), 3 forced fumbles

Recruiting buzz: Smith has already visited South Carolina twice this year. He also holds offers from Georgia, Florida State and Tennessee.

Four-star safety Myles Baker

School: Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon High 

Ranking: No. 207 nationally, No. 22 safety, No. 25 in California 

Height/Weight: 6-1, 190 pounds

Sophomore stats: 67 total tackles (3 for loss), 1 interception, 7 passes defended

Recruiting buzz: Baker visited Michigan this spring during a midwest trip that also included a stop at Notre Dame. Oregon, USC and SMU have also hosted him recently. 

Four-star linebacker Kobe Rhymes

School: North Kansas City (Mo.) High

Ranking: No. 290 nationally, No. 24 linebacker, No. 4 in Missouri 

Height/Weight: 6-1, 225 pounds

Recruiting buzz: Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska have extended early offers to Rhymes. 

Four-star linebacker Braylon Williams

School: Arlington (Texas) Lamar High

Ranking: No. 206 nationally, No. 14 linebacker, No. 29 in Texas

Height/Weight: 6-1, 201 pounds

Sophomore stats: 151 total tackles (22 for loss), 3 sacks, 1 interception

Recruiting buzz: SMU has hosted Williams more than any other school. Ohio State, Alabama and Texas have all offered as well. 

Linebacker Noah Glover

School: Haymarket (Va.) Battlefield High 

Ranking: Unranked

Height/Weight: 6-2, 200 pounds

Sophomore stats: 14 tackles (8 games), 3 sacks, 2 interceptions

Recruiting buzz: Indiana, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Rutgers and Maryland hosted Glover this spring. 

Linebacker Max Brown

School: Jefferson (Ga.) High 

Ranking: Unranked

Height/Weight: 6-0, 185 pounds 

Sophomore stats: 152 total tackles (14 for loss)

Recruiting buzz: Tennessee, Ohio State and Auburn have also extended early offers to Brown. 

Athlete Ausar Heard

School: Atco (N.J.) Winslow Township High 

Ranking: Unranked

Height/Weight: 5-10, 200 pounds 

Sophomore stats: 119 total tackles (11 for loss), 5 sacks and 1 interception 

Recruiting buzz: Heard holds early offers from Georgia, Syracuse and Penn State.
