ANN ARBOR – The Michigan Wolverines moved to 9-3 on the season with an 89-58 win over visiting Purdue Fort Wayne on Sunday afternoon at Crisler Center. This surpasses last year’s win total right before a bit of a layoff for the Christmas holiday.

Point guard Tre Donaldson led the Wolverines with 16 points, while center Vlad Goldin and forward Roddy Gayle Jr. had 13 and 12 points, respectively. Freshman Justin Pippen had a career-high 10 points.

Here is the full recap from Sunday’s game in Ann Arbor.

Michigan ripped off a 7-0 run over the next two minutes with baskets from Danny Wolf, Roddy Gayle Jr. and Tre Donaldson, pushing the lead to 10-2 at the 17:02 mark. PFW was able to get a layup to momentarily stop the bleeding. Michigan would rattle off a 13-0 run from there, pushing the run to 20-2 over a 7-minute snap to go up 23-4 with 12:11 remaining.

Michigan led 40-20 at the final media timeout of the first half before adding five quick points from another Pippen triple and a jumper from Sam Walters, extending the lead to 45-20 (3:17). U-M led by as many as 28 in the first half, but a three from PFW with 30 seconds left put the score at 54-29 at the half.

U-M’s torrid shooting paced the first-half output, making 77.8% of its baskets heading into the locker room.
