Michigan transfer portal: Wolverines offer Miami (OH) WR Reggie Virgil
The Michigan Wolverines have extended a scholarship offer out of the transfer portal to Miami (OH) wide receiver Reggie Virgil as we start to see an expansion of the target board at wide receiver. He has one season of eligibility remaining.
Other schools in the mix include Florida, Oklahoma and Michigan State, according to GatorsOnline’s Keith Niebuhr.

Virgil, who stands at 6-4, 190 pounds, spent the last three seasons at Miami (OH) and hauled in 41 catches for 816 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, averaging 19.9 yards per catch. Five of his 9 touchdowns this season came via the deep ball with 9 receptions for 120 yards on pass attempts of 20 yards or more.
It was a breakout campaign for the wideout, who had two career catches prior to this year. However, he cut his teeth on special teams and has plenty of on-field experience with 36 career games played. Virgil’s position coach is former Michigan wide receiver Roy Roundtree.
Michigan has been in the mix for 6-foot-5 Indiana transfer Donaven McCulley and could be in the driver’s seat to land him, but is building out its board as it looks to add more size to the wide receiver room. Head coach Sherrone Moore said that would be a major priority moving forward.
“I really wanted to, for us, add size and length,” Moore said on National Signing Day. “We really haven’t had a big, 6-foot-5 guy since Nico Collins and we wanted some big guys. Your margin for error for a quarterback, it’s just easier throwing high to a 6-foot-6 guy, it’s different than throwing high to a 5-foot-11 guy. So we wanted to have that variance in our receiving room, and we feel like we got that [with our 2025 recruiting class].”

Michigan wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Ron Bellamy also expressed the desire for bigger targets during a recent press conference.
“In my era of Michigan football, it was David Terrell, Marquise Walker, Braylon Edwards, Jason Avant, Steve Breaston. So those are the guys that are on my wall,” he said. “They’re all big receivers. Not to say, your whole room has to be big receivers. But, you have more room for error with bigger receivers. I grew up in the era of Michigan football, where that’s the case. That’s something where if you guys follow recruiting, where we’re going to attack.
“I think you’ve got to have you know, different we’ve got a plethora of options size-wise but getting bigger is something that we really want to focus on.”
