ANN ARBOR – The Big Ten-mandated Michigan Wolverines vs. Fresno State availability report is out ahead of Saturday night’s season opener with a handful of designations for the home team. Three players are out for the Wolverines, none that were expected to start or play a ton.

Senior Rod Moore suffered a knee injury in spring ball and is expected to miss the season, while an upper body injury in spring and fall camps limited graduate quarterback Jack Tuttle. Senior walk-on wideout Joe Taylor’s condition is undisclosed. No others appear in this week’s report.

Here is the full list of players on the report for Michigan this week.

Questionable

Sherrone Moore weighs in on first game of 2024

Fresno State comes to Ann Arbor off a 9-4 season in 2023, but has a newhead coach in the interim in Tim Skipper, who stepped in after Jeff Tedford stepped down due to health issues. The Vegas odds have U-M listed as a 20.5-point favorite with the over/under set at 45.5 points.

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore weighed in on the changes to their opponent’s leadership during his Monday press conference this week.

“Whenever you have a new coach, obviously being a new coach, but whenever you have a new coach, there’s the unknown,” Moore said. “There’s the not really sure. Coach Skipper has been in the system. He’s been there. He’s been with them, so he’s evolved in the culture. It’s something that’s been very successful, so I don’t see him diverging too much from what they’ve done. I know he was a defensive coordinator, so I don’t know how much evolved he will be with the defense or not, but I can see that there’s definitely going to be some wrinkles and things that we’ve got to be prepared for, but they’re a good football team.

“They went 9-4 last year. They’re tough. They’re blue-collar. They play extremely hard, so it’s going to be a challenge for us to make sure we do the same thing.”

Michigan has gone through big changes, too. Moore stepped into the head coaching job this offseason as the Wolverines look to defend their College Football National Championship and is ready to show what his team can be.

“Anxious and just ready to go,” Moore said on Monday. “Ready to practice, ready for meetings. Today’s the first day of school for the boys, so we made sure we talked about going to class, being on time, sitting in the front, doing everything right, talking to a couple of younger guys, saying make sure you introduce yourself to the teacher. Shake their hand, say hello. They’re like, what? Yes, do that. It’s going to help you in the long run.

“But watching them as they come back from class and they go to meetings, that’s going to be a cool thing to see them, oh, you guys had school today, now we’re back in the football, and then you get this routine of a game week. So that’s been the fun part for me.”
