Michigan vs. Indiana game balls: Standout performances from Week 11 loss
The Michigan Wolverines fell 20-15 to Indiana on Saturday afternoon, dropping their record to 5-5 on the season. As frustrating as the fourth loss in five games was, there were still a handful of standout performances from both teams on Saturday.
TheWolverine.com’s panel of Chris Balas, Clayton Sayfie and Anthony Broome hand out their game balls from the Week 11 tilt between Big Ten foes.
Chris Balas: Michigan EDGE TJ Guy
Michigan’s defense kept it in the game, especially in the second half, and no player’s effort was greater than the senior EDGE rusher, who had 2 sacks in the game within a three-play span that kept hope alive in the third quarter. A lot has been expected of U-M’s defensive line this year with the starters playing a ton of snaps, but Guy has performed admirably in his role and now has 4.5 sacks on the season. When looking ahead to the future, he should be someone the staff looks to retain with one final year of eligibility remaining.
Clayton Sayfie: Michigan defensive back Brandyn Hillman
When seasons go the way Michigan’s has, you start to parse through the performances to see who is out there playing with their hair on fire and who is going through the motions. To the defense’s credit, those guys played for four quarters and the fight has never been in question. But one of the most encouraging things to watch has been the play of the sophomore defensive back, who had a pair of big hits in the game and finished the game with 4 total tackles.

Anthony Broome: Indiana QB Kurtis Rourke
Sometimes, you just have to tip your hat to the other guy. Even though he had a terrible interception to Zeke Berry 7 yards from the end zone, he had a couple of great throws in the first half that were a bit demoralizing in the early efforts. The former Ohio quarterback has 21 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on the season after 208 yards and a pair of scores in Saturday’s victory.
