Michigan vs. Oregon matchup excites QB Davis Warren: 'Bring 'em on'
ANN ARBOR – The Michigan Wolverines‘ chances of upsetting No. 1 Oregon on Saturday are directly tied into the type of quarterback play it gets from Davis Warren, along with a team that played its first clean game of the season last week against Michigan State.
The Wolverines are 5-3 on the year and a two-touchdown underdog on Saturday against the Ducks, but it has a confident group heading into Saturday, per Warren.
“We’re Michigan, and Michigan wins,” he said this week. “This is a big-time program and we got a lot of great players in this building. I’m confident that we were more than capable of beating any team in the country. Any opponent that comes in here, whether it’s Michigan State last week, whether it was Fresno week one. We treat them with respect and we know what it’s going to take. If we put our best effort out there and focus on what we have to do, that we’re more than capable of getting a win.”
The Texas game, a 31-12 loss that could have been worse, saw the Wolverines drinking out of the fire hose. Now, they feel like they have been through enough to be prepared for Saturday’s showdown with No. 1.

“I think we’re way more prepared and better equipped to get a win,” Warren said. “Texas didn’t go how we wanted to, but I think just as a team we’re just much more mature. Early in the season we just had a lot of new guys in there and we just weren’t as far along and developed as a team. It didn’t go how we wanted to that Saturday. Still, I think just as a whole group and especially as an offense, we’re more mature and just in a way better spot to play complimentary football and put ourselves in a position to win the football game.”
Not many will give Michigan more than a puncher’s chance in this game on Saturday, but they know the opportunity that is on the line this weekend.
“I think it’s just a really exciting opportunity for us I know we’re gonna attack it the same way we attacked this week. We’re gonna get even better,” Warren said. “We’re gonna be better as a team next week and we’re gonna bring our best shot at them.”
