Michigan stripe-out: What to know about Saturday's theme vs. USC
The Michigan Wolverines will be trying out something new and different at the Big House on Saturday for the showdown with the USC Trojans. This summer, the athletic department announced a “stripe-out” game for the Big Ten opener that pits the two storied programs against each other for the first time since 2007, and the first time in Ann Arbor since 1958.
Getting 110,000-plus people to do anything in unison can be difficult, but Michigan is giving it the old college try on Saturday. In recent years, the Maize Out has been successful, and other stadiums over the years have been known for the stripe-out concept as it pertains to their gameday atmospheres.
For Michigan, it is fairly simple. If you are sitting in an odd-numbered section, you’re asked to wear Maize garb. If your seats are in an even-numbered section, wear blue. The entirety of the student section (Sections 25-33) is asked to dress in Maize flanked by blue sections in Sections 24 and 34.
