Wolverine TV: Takeaways from J.J. McCarthy's 'Big Ten Champs' camp
Michigan football junior quarterback J.J. McCarthy held a youth camp this weekend in the Chicagoland area, which included 30 teammates in attendance.
The Wolverine’s Anthony Broome, Clayton Sayfie and Chris Balas discuss McCarthy’s camp and what came out of it on our Monday night live show, which included how McCarthy continues to prove himself as the complete package leading Michigan.

“J.J. was super engaged,” Sayfie, who was on site for the event, said. “He gave a speech after every session. His dad was kind of the emcee organizing the whole thing, then they had coaches throughout who were helping along with those Michigan players. The coolest thing about this is that 1. Those guys were willing to help out, but 2. Part of it was that it was a NIL-type of activity. He’s spreading the wealth here with his teammates. It’s the second-straight year that J.J. is doing that. One of the questions I asked a lot of the guys that were there was if it felt like it was a little more his team this year. They said absolutely and he’s one of those guys rallying the troops this offseason.”
“He’s cool, calm and collected,” Broome said. “He’s very sincere and deliberate in his actions. It seems like he’s just this well-polished machine and it is a facade, but everything we know about him is that he is cut from a different cloth. Good dude, a good young man and a very good quarterback that has a chance to be great.”
