Michigan Wolverines basketball has dropped in the Associated Press top 25 following an 0-2 week. The Maize and Blue checked in No. 17 last week but have fallen to No. 22 in the March 10 release. Michigan is No. 21 in the coaches poll.

This is the Wolverines’ sixth-straight week in the AP poll. They’ve been in the top 25 in 11 different weeks, with their highest placement being No. 12.

First-year head coach Dusty May‘s team is 22-9 overall and 14-6 in the Big Ten, tying for second in the conference standings and earning a No. 3 seed in this week’s Big Ten Tournament. Michigan will take on one of No. 6 seed Purdue, No. 11 seed Rutgers or No. 14 seed USC Friday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Tip-off is scheduled for 25 minutes after the conclusion of the 6:30 game at the same arena.

Michigan is currently on a three-game losing streak, with setbacks to Illinois, Maryland and Michigan State. The Wolverines have lost four of their last six games, after going on a six-game winning streak that put them in late contention for the Big Ten regular-season title.

There’s a clean slate in the postseason, though, beginning with Michigan’s trip to the Big Ten Tournament.

“Well, it looks like the clouds have parted and the sun is out,” May said Monday. “And we’re ready for a postseason run, and to play our best basketball when it means the most here in March.”

Michigan has beaten three teams that are currently ranked in the AP top 25: No. 18 Wisconsin in Madison and No. 20 Purdue and No. 23 Oregon in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines fell in the first meeting against Purdue. Michigan lost twice to ranked Michigan State (No. 7), once to No. 11 Maryland and once to No. 24 Illinois.
