Michigan cornerback transfer Ja’Den McBurrows has signed with Appalachian State.
McBurrows appeared in 19 games during his Michigan career, totaling 13 tackles, one interception and two passes defended during his time in Ann Arbor. Much of his career was hampered by injuries, appearing in only four games last season and not playing past Sept. 21 against USC.
His best season came in 2023, where he appeared in 11 games as a depth piece and special-teams contributor, sharing U-M’s Defensive Player of the Week honors for his showing at Michigan State, where he had an interception for five yards in a 49-0 win over the Spartans. It would be a revenge game for McBurrows, who was part of an assault by MSU players in the Michigan Stadium tunnel following a Wolverine victory during the 2022 season. He did not play that season while dealing with a lower-body injury.

Quote Of The Day
“Could we add someone who could take us to another level, and who could potentially take us from a team who you’re talking about as a contender to possibly being a favorite to win the Big Ten, or somebody expected to at least make the Sweet 16 and maybe, possibly be playing beyond that and be playing for a national championship?” Boynton continued. “And we identified probably five or six guys, and we talked to several of them, but there was one particular that we thought that could really move the needle. So, it’s in a wait and see.”
— Michigan basketball assistant coach Mike Boynton Jr. on the ‘Defend The Block’ podcast, discussing waiting for a player until the deadline to make an NBA Draft decision. The Wolverines have transfer commit Yaxel Lendeborg going through the draft process.
