Michigan basketball lost for the third time in five games, falling 71-65 to Maryland Wednesday night at Crisler Center. The Wolverines won 13 games at home and were tough to beat but dropped three of their last four in the venue.

Michigan head coach Dusty May discussed his appreciation for the home atmosphere all season.

“First off, we’d love to thank our fans for the contributions they made in Crisler this year,” May said. “We created a home court environment. We had great energy, especially tonight with spring break and people out of town.

“Obviously, the last couple we haven’t performed at the level that we’d like, but this is part of it. Obviously, we’d love to be riding a wave of success right now, but we gotta figure some things out. There’s a lot of meaningful, heightened basketball in front of us in the near future, and personally I’m excited for the opportunity and the challenge to get this thing going in the right direction as we head into the postseason.”

Michigan football has had 23 undefeated seasons in history, the most among any current Division I school. The Wolverines’ most recent came in 2023, when they went 15-0 and won the national championship. U-M defeated Alabama (27-24 in overtime) and Washington (34-13) in the College Football Playoff. The Maize and Blue made three consecutive CFP appearances from 2021-23, capped off by the title.

Michigan women’s basketball is in Indianapolis preparing for the Big Ten Tournament. The Wolverines will take on Washington at 2:30 p.m. ET on Thursday.

Quote Of The Day

“The process is going to be pretty simple: who completes the most passes, who’s the best leader, who can help the team win the most. Those things can sometimes be answered in the spring. Those things can be pushed out throughout the summer, through workouts, and then most of the time it happens when you gotta get to fall camp and make a decision. We’ll take the process very slowly and make sure we make the right decision for the team.”
