Sayfie and Broome started out by discussing Michigan’s big win over Purdue, which avenged a 27-point loss to the Boilermakers at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette.

“This game had just about everything,” Sayfie noted. “We’ll break down different aspects of it, but the result of it is you had an unbelievable night at Crisler Center, you had Michigan coming out of this thing proving it can beat a top 10 team — it’s the first top-10 win under [head coach] Dusty May — and proving to themselves that they are a real player in this Big Ten title race, with sole possession of first place, which is just remarkable, given all the context surrounding this season.”

“Dusty May talked a few weeks ago about how they just wanted to be in the fight and stay in the fight,” Broome said. “And, still a lot of fight to go, but they lead the fight now. And, to a certain extent, by virtue of controlling their own destiny, that is still there for them.

“A lot of tough games still coming up — you’ve got two against Michigan State — but maybe you’re getting Michigan State at the right time, as they’ve lost three of the last four. You’ve got a tough one on Sunday at Ohio State. That was not a game that you hang banners for; that’s not a game that guarantees anything, but it is a game that could be one that we remember for a while, based on what it set up or what came after it.

“By far the biggest win of the Dusty May era to this point. I was so impressed by the fact that they just found a way.”
